Better Regulations and Policy
When WA’s major gas developments were first approved, a percentage of the carbon pollution had to be balanced by investments in clean energy projects such as tree farming and renewable technologies.
During the Carbon Tax era, the Barnett government took away the regulations that made companies comply with anti-pollution measures. Right now there are no regulations stopping gas pollution but this is under review. The question is what percentage of the pollution should companies like Chevron be required to comply with?
We believe that 100% of the pollution should be addressed by requiring the big companies to pay for projects which will be created in Western Australia, helping us transition to renewable resources and better jobs, and away from fossil fuels.
